Reservation Problem

I hope that everyone that reads this reviw of the Hat Creek Resort and RV Park will think twice about staying here. Their website states that "Guests Come First!" Wrong. We have stayed at this park for over 20+ years with great memories. Since Mary Bertram arrived there in July 2011, it has changed for the worst. I tried to book our regular site for 2 1/2 months in 2012 which was vacant according to the friendly manager, Diane. She said O.K. and confirmed it by taking my credit card info. Within minutes Mary told her to call me back because she would not allow me to reserve it because they were changing it to a group site, short stay site or big rig site (kept changing the reason). I could have the site right next to the site I wanted. Now, does that make sense? I could then see how often it was vacant. Doesn't it make more business sense to reserve a guaranteed reservation rather than hope you get a reservation from many others. We have overlooked the ren-down toilet and bath facilities that overflow on the floors, the cold water only washing machines and poor dryers plus the steps in the cabins that can cause someone to fall and the poorly stocked store. Go down the road to Rim Rock store. Believe me, this is no longer a customer friendly facility. I sent this to the owners before posting with no response. Like I say, they do not care. Let's see if this makes it on their site. I am also a disabled person with a heart problem, so the site we wanted is more level than some of the others. I will not return as long as Mary remains at this location. The customer friendly managers are Diane and Dave. Mary and Joe Sr. Bertram are overseeing managers of all the RV parks this corporation owns. Good luck with keeping long staying customers. Of course, I guess you don't care. We stayed again for two weeks in July 2011, but this complaint happened in October 2011 when I called to make a reservation.

I once upon a time loved the Hat Creek Resort, but this management team and its employees are the worst I have experienced anywhere. The little store ran out of coffee and water, the bathrooms and showers were horribly kept, the trailer we rented had black widows and exposed mouse traps, not to mention the ants crawling all over the kitchen (and I understand we are in the mountains), but geez! We typically would stay in the cabins which are nice, but this was ridiculous! In addition, when we checked in the ladies (although very nice), they didn't seem to know what they were doing and were confused. A definite lack of training in this area. I was also overcharged upon check-in, and when I called them about it, the manager Mary, told me that I was wrong and was not going to look into it because she her books balanced for that day. However, she did finally say she would call the lady who checked us in to ask her if she remembered the transaction. Now, why would you call her if the books balanced? What she should have done is check the reservations sheet balances again the register balance...but this was not mentioned by Mary at all. My fault for not checking th receipt more closely. Again...very disappointing to say the least!!!

shortly after arrival I had a run in with the regional mgr of the park. I had rented a cabin for 4 people. The mgr came by and really upset my wife about our camper being parked at the cabin. She said the cabin was for 2 persons and my camper would require an RV spot with additional fees. She was told that the cabin was rented for 4 persons. Apparently she thought we were trying to freeload 2 people at the site. She said syaye law did not allow the camper to be parked at the cabin site and made me move it to the other side of the park. While parked there, it was attacked by unknown critters, most likely squirrels, that chewed through a bunch of wires conested to my trucks guages and electrical controls. The cabin's propane supply ran out while we were there, on our departure day, so no breakfast, nor hot water for showering. They will get a bill for my truck repair. The hired help is fantastic and very friendly. WE had to deal with "bums" in the resort on 2 of the days we were there. the cabins are old and showing there age. some of the front steps are crumbling, windows will not open or close. Water controls did not operate properly.( got only hot water at bathroom sink)

We were promised to have a campsite that did not feel like a trailer park. We were also promised a game room, nice bathrooms and movies. My daughter who is in her teens started. We had already been here for three days the code had changed no one had told us. She had an accident while running around to complete strangers. We were promised a game room this didnt happen the man said well we are between management. I didnt know this when I paid full price and to have a teenager to have an acciedent. Then we were a half an hour late from checking out and some man start yelling at my husband. First off these were the diriest bathrooms ever. The people that had cable couldn't even get a chanel. Because they are running lines of cable, and electricity. This site needs help.

Amazing Place to Stay

We loved Hat Creek Resort. We had two 40' coaches and we had 2 huge camp sites. We were very close to the creek and really enjoyed the fishing. The accomadations were very clean- they empty trash cans every day! We visited Burney Falls- absolutely beautiful, our husbands enjoyed golf at an excellent course near by called Fall River Valley Golf Course, they say they can't wait to play there again. We all enjoyed driving to Manton and enjoyed wine tasting at all of their wineries. We will definetly stay here again!

Won't return!

Unfortunately, my family will not be returning here. We thought we found the perfect spot for our family reunion AND would be able to continue the tradition at Hat Creek RV year after year, but we will be looking elsewhere next year. First off, they screwed up our reservations and put us in a site away from our 30 other family members - even though I specifically called 3 months prior to reserve 3 of our 9 spots myself. Thankfully, Mary the mgr cleared this up AFTER the lady checking me in told me there were no other spots except one creekside and we would need to pay extra for. Thoughout the weekend, park attendants continued to nit-pick our entire family putting a sour note on what could have and should have been a GREAT stay. My brothers water pump in his RV broke when he first arrived and he was hanging the wet, drenched towels - when they got on him about hanging them to dry. My uncle's cabin was next to the community area where we had our meals daily. We used the picnic and park benches along with our tables for our 30+ family and they asked us to move the benches back. Even though they told us this area would be the best spot of a group our size and that they would accomodate. My uncle left a night early and they wouldn't refund him his $ (nor did he ask them to) but we wanted to use the cabin for our last dinner and breakfast and they refused to let another family member stay in it. AND, to top it off - they accused my Dad of staying in it (after we obeyed their rules not to) when we were checking out because he used the key given him to go back inside to retreived cake and ice cream from the fridge/freezer. Ridiculous! We rented 1 cabin, 5 RV spaces, and 3 hotel rooms. Ages ranged from 5 to 90 and not once did they need to speak to any of us about driving too fast, being too loud or for being a nusance. This was a FAMILY REUNION for heavens sake! We were all probably in bed before 11pm each night. Obviously they dont want repeat business.

Great Place!!

My family and some friends from the Bay area stayed for Memorial weekend. We have been before and have always had a wonderful time. This time on our way up our truck broke down. Pretty scary since we were pulling our tent trailer and two quads, not to mention the two dogs and our 8 year old. Once we finally made it to the resort the Manager took such great care of us all. He found us a great mechanic in Burney. We ended up staying an extra night since our truck was in the shop and the weekend still wasn't over. They had no problem letting us stay without the reservation for it. Our truck wasn't going to be ready until after the holiday because a part had to be ordered. We had a way to get the family back to Reno... but still had the trailer and quads to worry about. Once again the manager took care of us! He towed our trailer and quads to a safe place until we could return to get them along with our truck. Another great thing to mention ...the movies they play at night on the big screen under the stars, just bring your camp chairs and a blanket and you're set. They even bring the fresh popped popcorn. My daughter and I love it! If you are ever looking for a great place to camp with wonderful management and staff, great fishing(even though we weren't lucky everyone else around us was), and great memories this is your place! Have a wonderful summer. And... thanks Hat Creek Resort, we love you !!

This is an over rated, over priced RV Park; it is not a RESORT. We stayed here 21 & 21 June 2011 in creek site #4. Sites are very hard to get into for Big Rigs; 30 amp service is low voltage, water pressure is low, and sewer drains very slowly. Our site had an unsanitary sewer connection; you just stuck your sewer hose into the opening and tied it off with a string they provided. Roads are very dusty. I could not get WiFi at my site or satellite due to the trees. Cable has limited channels and no cell phone service. Lots of ants! The only thing going for this park is "Hat Creek" which is pretty and trout fishing appeared to be good. I did not fish.
