Kamp Klamath Fun
0 % of users found this review helpful
Klamath California is flowing with a vibe that evokes healing of the heart and soul. Nestled between the Klamath Mountains of Giant Redwoods and moss covered Alders and the rich blues and greens of the roaring Pacific Ocean connected by the energy of the salmon filled Klamath River, lays a camp ground.Kamp Klamath. Surrounded by rich Native history, Kamp Klamath sits on 33 acres with access to all three Wonders by foot.
Beautifully blended into the scenery, a rustic log cabin that doubles as a store and café, greet you with friendliness and warmth. To the left of the log cabin outlined by Alders, ferns and Ivy is a meadow. The meadow is dotted with round tables with umbrellas and chairs. A bench fills in the space in front of a bon fire and a stage for dinner by music.
A salad, rice, and stir fried vegetables is topped off with the days catch of salmon, perfectly seasoned and grilled and offered at $11.00 per person. Chicken is also offered as an alternative to the salmon. Dinner is served in front of a bon fire and the acoustic guitar of Douglas King. All campers are encouraged to join in on the fun and perform with their fellow neighbors.
Behind the log cabin is another meadow that houses many different areas for campers. A swing set with slides and a tree house, volleyball nets and a tether ball, all designed with the kids and family time in mind.
On site are boat guides to take you out for a day of King Salmon fishing or a short walk down the graveled path takes you to the river's edge. Approx. 2 miles down the road is the mouth of the Klamath, a very sacred fishing spot for the local fare, also a beautiful beach to let the kids and or dogs run freely.
While in Klamath make time for beautiful coastal hikes and a trip to Trees of Mystery. Ride a sky tram to the top of the mountain that overlooks some of the tallest and oldest Redwoods in the World. When exiting the tram, walk up the stairs to the right to reach the top and photograph the beautiful Pacific Coast and its mountains. Coming back down is a choice of the individual, sky tram or walk are your options. If you decide to walk down, make sure you are in good shape as the path is very steep. Dogs are allowed on leash.
Kamp Klamath has a few new things beginning Summer Season 2011. A remodeled laundry facility that includes a destination map is just the beginning of what Kamp Klamath has new to offer. A 2500 square foot garden and free range chickens are the idea of Aaron Funk-owner of Kamp Klamath. Using the space to grow fresh food for the guests and workers came into plan with the rise of food costs.
32 new camp sites are being offered for the upcoming season that are nestled amongst Alders and Horsewhip bamboo. Bathrooms are being reconditioned with new paint, lighting and accessories to give the guest a feeling of home.
