Memorial Day 2012
100 % of users found this review helpful
We got there Friday night a little after 9pm. The place we were assigned was awful. Trash can actually on the space and grass was way high. Before I could even go back to complain, the "officer" on duty....came over to see if she could help. Well, we ended up a few spaces down the road and had a fabulous weekend. Her interest and helping us get into our new spot was above and beyond. That alone is unusual now a days. It's a great place and if you want Beverly Hills,,,,,,stay in Beverly Hills....If you want a simple campground that provides a relaxing weekend and fishing if you like....then, this is the place.

What happened to Lake Hemet?
0 % of users found this review helpful
Frequent visitor to lake hemet campground. Only reason we go now... is the fishing and not sure if we will do that after this weekend. Within the past year the campground was taken over by new staff which is trying to enforce ridiculous rules which seem to changing day by day. Since when did Lake hemet become a camp of a 1000 rules. I am all for enforcing rules when they makes sense. One of the nicest things about lake hemet was that because they are not busy they use to have a late checkout now they have become like a hotel really... I understand if someone has the spot reserved but on a Sunday afternoon when no one is there they have to be rude and tell us we are past checkout and have 15 min to leave or else. Come on people it's not like the campground is a "Thousand Trails" and people are 20 cars deep beating your gate down to get in. If you expect people to come back to Lake Hemet you need to light'n up. Remember Hurkey Creek is only minutes away, cheaper, cleaner and less rules....

Nice place, no Fish
60 % of users found this review helpful
First time since childhood that i have been to lake hemet. nice campground. liked the fact that you could fish from your campsite right against the water. First time camping ever. Son and I had a great time. Except that only fish we caught were bluegill and the ever present carp mating on the shore that kept us awake all night thrashing about.
