First time since childhood that i have been to lake hemet. nice campground. liked the fact that you could fish from your campsite right against the water. First time camping ever. Son and I had a great time. Except that only fish we caught were bluegill and the ever present carp mating on the shore that kept us awake all night thrashing about.

I have been going to lake hemet for over 20 years and we always have at least 4 families with us camping. Last year on our yearly visit the new young park ranger keep on telling our site the we needed to be quiter in the middle of the day most of the noise was from our kids. after sun down he came to the camp fire with his superviser tell everybody to be quit and at that time they both said if we didnt like it we could pack up and leave so everybody went to the tents and called it a night. The next mornig while fish the same young ranger seemed to find me and my kids and asked what we were still doing at the lake we answered fishing what does it look like. We left one day early. Well i guess one bad time doesnt mean we wnt try it again. If things at this lake dont change i have a feeling alot of people wont go back.

We have been camping at Lake Hemet for over 20 years (my parents, then us for over the last 15 years. We always liked the ability to choose where we wanted to camp since we often had a group of 6-10 RV's and several people. We have never caused any problems there and always had a good time. We were able to park in a semi-circle close to the shore in camp 2 in the area that has now been closed off to camping. We continued coming up there because we enjoyed the quiet and that it is close to home. This time when we came up, we were assigned spaces. This time only 4 RV's and one person in a car followed on Sat. night. We came in early Saturday May 7th. The desk personnel really should be trained on the sizes of the sites they are assigning. We were assigned sites that we could not fit on. We went back to the desk and requested certain space numbers that we knew we could fit on. They said they would be fine. 3 out of 4 were ok, but one they gave us was not one requested, but another entirely. Again, our truck (a Ford 250) wouldn't even fit on the space, let alone the trailer we were pulling. We parked on one that was reserved for the RV coming that night and went up again for a new spot. We were told if they had to change us more than twice they were supposed to charge for another space. We told them they should assign spaces that the units could fit on and then we wouldn't have to change them. She told us if we were going to get smart about it we could leave. The first space we were told was over 50 feet, which it was not. Then when our one person in a car came in, they were told that we were in camp 2 in space 438. Sometimes change is not always for the better, and new employees should be trained and maps marked with sizes of units that will fit on them so they are not given out to units that won't fit. It did not start the weekend out very well, and just adds to the changes in policies that make Lake Hemet nowhere near as inviting as it used to be
