not your 'sparkle perfect' high end resort like down the street but an undiscovered jewel of long term camping. Wonderful crowd of people and down home feeling. Open only 6 months a year but a great retreat for the investment. Very cozy and best enjoyed over a long period with other owners who spend their spring, summer and fall there. Can't get more for your money Rustic and a little lay back but we'll take the short falls to enjoy Big Bear as a mountain get away....if you just want to experience the area and really have neighbors....go for it....not really for kids and more of a 'mature' population It's low key all the way....and no worry about part time renters or security.....love it!

My fault.

Experience was my fault. Was looking for woodsy, secluded getaway. Lighthouse is crowded with RV's, trailers, mobile homes packed in tight. Many looked like permanent residents. Private property signs everywhere. Felt like we were intruding. Conven. store opened late, closed early. Didn't find the BBQ facilities. Just a round can in the ground. Didn't find the Family Park unless it was the little colored plastic thing with the two foot slide or the grass area by the lake but that looked and felt like private property. No beach. So if swimming and fishing are "on site" amenities, you have to climb over rocks and through weeds. It's on the lake but no real lake access unless you're a resident with a boat slip. Resort atmosphere, rural setting? No. I could've felt the same in Anaheim. Should've stayed across the street at Serrano CLM.
