Escape from the cold weather
100 % of users found this review helpful
We camped here for three nights to get a brake from the cold weather were we live. The campground was a great retreat for us. We camped here in a motorhome, the sites were level and had full hookups. The park was very clean and well kept. We used the hot springs pools multiple times each day and they were great. We will camp here again.

A Wonderful Place To Unwind
100 % of users found this review helpful
My family and I were looking for a place to unwind for a few days. We wanted to do some exploring in Joshua Tree National Park as well as take advantage of the restaurants in Palm Springs. After a bit of web searching, we came across reviews for Sams Family Spa Hot Water Resort. We decided to take a chance on a new place and made resrvations for Sam's without having seen it. Upon our arrival I was surprised by the fact that each RV site was large and easy to back my trailer into. Each site also had a concrete pad with a picnic table. The full hookups were nice and included cable TV. WiFi internet connectivity was rather slow, but the first two days are included free of charge. Once we got settled in, we decided to check out the amenities. We first went into the store and found that it carried all the necessities and some great extras as well (soft serve ice cream). We then went out into the courtyard where the pools are, and were very pleasantly surprised by what we found there. The pools (one very large pool, a smaller kids pool, and four or five hot water spas at various temperatures) were immaculately clean, and were surrounded by a beautiful park-like setting. There are grassy picnic areas, aviaries, barbeque grills, and a huge pond complete with koi, ducks, swans, turtles, etc. What a surprise! On top of that, the park has a great rec room with a pool table, a kitchen, a big screen TV, a ping pong table, couches, and kitchen facilities. The park's restroom and shower facilities were immaculate. Sam's is conveniently located less than ten minutes from Desert Hot Springs and about 15 minutes from Palm Springs, so you're minutes away from just about anything that you could want. It's just outside of town though, so you get the feeling that you're "away from it all." I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sam's to anyone. We'll definitely be back.

Sand, Sam, and Spa

What can I say about Sam's? The place is hilarious - a step back in time to the days of kitschy Route 66 Hotels and themed resorts in the Poconos. A combination of RVers, Tent Campers, Motel Guests, Permanent Residents, Peacocks, stray cats, ducks, geese, swans, and a host of other exotic and not birds all set in a Fantasy Island meets Desert Oasis meets Western Movie Set down the road from Al Capone's old digs - what are ya kidding me - HAS to be seen at least once to be believed.
An incredibly overpriced convenience store is combined with a staff that ranges from insanely friendly to unbelievably grumpy - but all can be taken in stride.
Excellently maintained natural mineral spas, a gorgeous pool, and a sauna all set in 1960's splendor make it worth the stay. Even in inclement weather, the semi-outdoor spas can be enjoyed.
Nice BBQ and picnic areas abound under scores of native palms. Doggy area and playground, great laundromat, and a few minutes drive into town for cheaper supplies make it a great place. RV pads are generous in size and hook-ups are in good shape. Clean showers and bathrooms, but the showers could use some water pressure.
The winds can be a drag in the area, but the pool and spa areas seem to be enclosed enough by various windbreaks to not be affected. You'll be rockin' in rollin' in your Tent or RV though. Winter is chilly, summer is broiling, so spring, early summer, and fall are your best bet, but I've been there all different times and managed to have a great time.
